Charm of Piaget’s ultra-thinness
In the early of the half century, Piaget high class watchmaking factory has developed the journey of manufacturing the ultra-thin watch. At the beginning of 1957, Piaget has research a mechanical movement with a thickness of only 2 mm, and named 9P. In watch industry’s terms, 9P stands for 9P movement. The watch with 9P movement and the revolutionary watch with 12P self-winding movement both grandly came out at Baselworld 2009, and became the global thinnest self-winding movement at that time. After that, among the 29 self-made movement researched by Piaget, there are 17 ultra-thin models, which kept a pretty secure position for Piaget in manufacturing the ultra-thin movement.
At this SIHH, Piaget issued a new ultra-thin Altiplano collection. This series was firstly set up in 1998, being characteristic of clear case line and simple dial design. New models in this year continue these features, in addition, adding the jewelry craftsmanship that Piaget does well in, showing more magnificence.

The first masterpiece of IWC in this year was the Portofino collection. Portofino is a beautiful harbour small town in Liguria coast, standing for the Mediterranean life in the 1960s, leisure and comfortable. In 1984, the first Portofino watch made its debut, along with a case diameter of 46 mm, equipped with moon phase display and a thin 9521 pocket watch movement, endowing with a title of art crystal of pocket watch and watch.
